I wonder what the process to making those shorts were. Did they tell those pedestrians to act out their parts, did they have guys in suit initially, and how did they get the cartoon blend so well with the video?

I think they film people's reactions to some actor and then replace it with the monster.
Watch the Elvis video. When he's about to reach the front and turn around, you can see a human hand under the monster's arm.
