You get angry not when someone hurts you, but when their actions betray a setting of their cooperation dial that is lower than you expect.

Most students don't work. Most students live a life of leisure (overgeneralization). Most students are young and have raging hormones in full force, driving them to behave in certain ways that differ from other segments of population. Etc.

Buddhist Movies

Oseam

A very touching movie with a strong Buddhist flavor. If you haven't seen it, go and watch it. It's definitely worth it.

Together with a plastical surgery and you'll have a decent mod of yourself.

What if logic is wrong(!)?

nullaresnata 2 points3 points 1 day ago[-]

For some events I do exactly as you do. I go there by association, and I never seem to know the time when that thing happened (to recall, I have to do the same process again), but this is a very specific thing for certain events. If you do this all the time, you really have something different going on there, I think.

You're still thinking in terms of time (something happened, it happened in the past). Maybe you have some difficulty in pinpointing it, but there's a vague idea of a what that occurred in a then.

Like it or not, most human beings are "herd" animals

There, you said it all. That's the trade-off of having this high sociability tendency we have.

Autistic girl expresses profound intelligence

As I told you, don't get me wrong. My comment goes beyond you personally. Just that. Thanks anyway for pointing that out (your comment history and your IAMA).

That doesn't warrant that it is her doing the typing (as the person commenting before you was trying to demonstrate). So your reply didn't quite answer to that. (just a my opinion)

I felt the same upon hearing that bit. There's an overall "politely correct" attitude from her father that distresses me. I may be wrong, I hope I am, but this is my genuine feeling. I was totally in a cognitive dissonance when I saw the whole piece.

I consider myself very naive when it comes to this kind of stories (I tend to get a bit emotional), but I had the very same feeling with this one. Something is not right there.

Please, don't take my comment wrong, but having you say that you're an autistic person doesn't make you an authority. We're on the internet, on an anonymous forum and anyone can pull that out of nowhere.

Please, again, don't take me wrong. But we are taught from very early that things are not what they seem here.

Researchers discover how key enzyme repairs sun-damaged DNA: Researchers have long known that humans lack a key enzyme -- one possessed by most of the animal kingdom and even plants -- that reverses severe sun damage.

You're telling this to someone writing a post on reddit from his mother's basement. None of the conditions enumerated above apply.

Can someone tell me how stainless steel removes odors from the skin?

nullaresnata -1 points0 points 4 days ago[-]

We're just around in circles now. This is a very personal thing, a choice, and this is as far as we can go on this discussion. It's funny to notice how misread we can be upon writing something. I would never give this "advice" to a child - thus assuming to be talking to an adult.

Another great thing of the internet: we all look alike. But, in Portugal, I speak Portuguese. So I know a lot is "lost in translation" by my fault only.

With the back of the knife? Maybe this has to do with a very personal experience (everyone's different, every setting is different), but this gesture is no natural to me by now that I can hardly figure out how one would cut him/herself with it while doing this.

note: I assume I'm talking to a responsible grown-up.

You achieve the same results by just rubbing the knive you used to cut the garlic under running water. Why use fancy steel soaps if still you have a steel tool in your hand?

Can anyone explain how this device works?

Even so, when you lose your temper, you also lose the argument. You had a good reason for your first comment and you pointed out correctly on the second one. That fuck you thing ruined it.

OS Review: Haiku Alpha 2

nullaresnata 0 points1 point 6 days ago* [-]

It's more than that, failure on an OS is not measured by its adherence in terms of users or some other technological feat. You have to know the goals of the OS to understand what the community is trying to achieve.

The thing fundamentally wrong with your assertion is something much more broader than a technological thing. Sometimes, most of the times, a different perspective is just that - a different perspective. An alternative OS is just that, a different way to achieve something, and just by that it's a great thing, far greater than something you can measure in terms of any performance measure. Understand this and this concept will make a different sense to you.
